How many times have you heard that “no individual can do it all?” Yet how many of us fall into the trap of feeling responsible for everything getting done? Of giving responsibility to someone else and then grabbing it back at the first sign that all is not going as planned? Of telling employees what to do and then being frustrated when they don’t do it “our way?”. In today’s world of shrinking resources, economic uncertainty, and increasing pressure to show financial results, it is imperative that leaders know how to empower those who report to them.

This course explores the best practices, key levers, and cultural norms that allow for empowerment. This course also places strong emphasis on diagnosing and practicing the individual leadership behaviors that encourage/inhibit empowerment. Diagnostic tools are provided to assess employee capability level, and to match levels of empowerment to capability. Tools are provided to set appropriate boundaries (time, budget, quality, access to support, etc.) to allow empowerment without abdicating all responsibility.

By learning and practicing effective empowerment techniques, leaders will increase the capability of their organization to compete and succeed in today’s challenging environment.
