GE’s Jack Welch, considered one of the most respected and admired leaders of 1990’s, was perceived by many as a hard-nosed CEO. “Neutron Jack” fired or laid off tens of thousands of under-performers and sold off many under-performing business-units. Yet when discussing performance, Mr. Welch made no bones about the difficulty of confronting these difficult issues: “I’ve struggled with this problem myself and have often been guilty of not being rigorous enough. Every impulse is to look the other way.” Managers who cannot confront performance problems often become performance problems themselves!!

This session will help you understand why confronting performance problems is so important and so challenging. It will introduce you to the principles of effective confrontation and demonstrate how to apply them in a variety of difficult situations from the most simple to the more complex.
